Let’s Go Travel Guides Shares what’s New in Europe for Summer 2012

    Let’s Go Europe 2012

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) April 25, 2012

From Great Britain down to Greece, Europe is a whirlwind of change this summer. Luckily, the student adventurers at Let’s Go Travel Guides are offering travelers a sneak peek into Let’s Go Europe 2012, the Let’s Go guide with the freshest and hippest inside scoop on Europe to date.

Here’s a taste of what’s new in Europe and what this means for travelers:

    1. Hit the 2012 Olympics. The XXX Olympiad will transform London this summer, with the world’s best athletes competing, and droves of tourists from around the world cramming the cosmopolis to watch them. This one’s for all ages, backgrounds, and sizes. Don’t forget to bring family and friends along for the ride—even the stay-at-home types will be thrilled by a London on fire.

    2. Say goodbye to Dutch “coffee.” Foreigners are no longer allowed into the Netherlands’ 670 famous cannabis coffee shops. According to the Dutch cabinet, the new measure will “reduce nuisance and drugs tourism.” Whether this new restriction will harm or simply reshape tourism in Amsterdam remained to be seen. However, keep in mind that nothing’s debarring visitors from peeking their heads inside the windows for a glimpse of this mysterious hub of Dutch culture.

    3. Enter the iron gates of the Güell Palace. The famous Palau Güell in Barcelona, Spain just reopened after an eight-year series of extensive renovations and restoration. Travelers can play the role of a 19th century member of high society in this lavish mansion designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. For students taking classes abroad, this is the ultimate study break.

    4. Take a stroll through the International Architecture Exposition. Held August 29th through November 25th, the 13th International Architecture Exposition in Venice will reinvigorate the artistic souls of travelers from all over the world. While in town, be sure to take advantage of the recommendations in Let’s Go Europe 2012 for the best budget deals in an otherwise expensive city.

    5. Brush up on local history and culture at the Museum of Liverpool. The shiny new Museum of Liverpool tells the wonderful story of how the port, its people, and their creative and sporting history have shaped the city. With a variety of galleries, this beautiful landmark building sits on Liverpool’s famous waterfront. Admission is free, which is a plus for wallet-strapped backpackers trekking through the city.

With the latest and greatest tips on where to trip and where to skip, Let’s Go Europe 2012 offers a wide selection of hostel listings, restaurant reviews, sights, and nightlife recommendations. Whether travelers are studying abroad in Florence or taking an one-week backpacking trip, Let’s Go can help by offering suggestions on the roads not taken—risk-free. From German beer halls to Roman ruins, travelers will be guaranteed a truly unique travel experience.

Honest Tea Launches “THE GREAT RECYCLE” In Effort To Boost Recycling Rates Nationally

Bethesda, Md. (PRWEB) April 11, 2012

Honest Tea® announced today a new, national recycling initiative called “The Great Recycle,” which will launch in New York City’s Times Square on Monday, April 30th.

In a show of support for New York City’s pledge to double recycle efforts by 2017, Honest Tea and partners GrowNYC, Recyclebank, Coca-Cola Live Positively, Global Inheritance and Five-Boro Green Services will place a 30-foot tall recycling bin in Times Square and attempt to crowd-source recycle more than 45,000 plastic, glass and aluminum beverage containers in ten hours. The plastic bottles collected will be recycled into essential gardening supplies including shovels, watering cans and plastic lumber, which will be used to build and cultivate an urban garden for PS 102, an elementary school in Harlem.

“National recycling rates are nowhere near where they need to be,” says Honest Tea co-founder and TeaEO Seth Goldman. “Honest Tea is perpetrating to finding ways to help Americans recycle more. We’ve helping install recycling bins in our hometown of Bethesda, MD and now it’s clock to expand our efforts.”

At the event in Times Square, bottles will act as currency. People who bring bottles down to “The Great Recycle” will be awarded points for each bottle recycled, that can be redeemed at the onsite TRASHed Recycling Store run by Global Inheritance. There, indicated can be ransomed for rewards such as stale bottles of Honest Tea, t-shirts and reusable bags, jeans, video games, and tickets to sporting events, concerts and Broadway shows.

“New York City is a world leader in many areas and is committed to actions that secure a sustainable and livable future for all residents. The goal to double the waste diversion rate includes initiatives like expanding access to recycling in public spaces, and other initiatives that will make it even easier to do the right thing. This is just one component of the Mayor’s efforts to make New York City one of the greenest, most livable cities,” says David Hurd, the Director of Office of Recycling Outreach & Education for GrowNYC. “Recycling beverage containers is a simple everyday way to combat climate change and reduce the cost of exporting our waste to other states.”

Those who cannot attend the event in Times Square will have an opportunity to participate in “The Great Recycle” by logging onto http://www.TheGreatRecycle.com and making a recycling pledge and then solidifying it by recycling an old Facebook post. By taking the pledge, users will be rewarded with Recyclebank points which can be redeemed for discounts and deals from more than 3,000 local and national businesses in categories ranging from food and beverage to health and beauty, restaurants, entertainment, sports and recreation, apparel, automotive, electronics and more.

Honest Tea partnered with TerraCycle in 2007 to create the Drink Pouch Brigade, a program which recycles drink pouches and ‘upcycles’ them into items such as pencil cases, book bags, and notebooks. Since 2007, nearly one million Honest Kids pouches have been diverted from landfills. The Drink Pouch Brigades now divert more drink pouches from the waste stream than Honest Tea produces each year.

In 2008, Honest Tea partnered with Bethesda Green and The Coca-Cola Company to install 33 recycling bins throughout downtown Bethesda. Within the first year the bins collected more than 4,000 lbs. of recyclable beverage containers.

  • Q&A: What is the best notebook computer to buy?

Posted on March 31st, 2012 No comments

Question by duchess7111: What is the best notebook computer to buy?
I took my old laptop in to Best Buy today because it had stopped booting. It is a few years old and they said it is more cost efficeient to buy a new one than to put money into the old one. So, now i’m trying to choose a new notebook computer. I am a teacher but this is my home computer. I want it for music, picture and video playing and editing, School related things (word processing, powerpoint) and internet as well as my financial records etc. I do not want a Mac because it will not be compatible with my computers at school. Any suggestions? What should I be looking for?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Sol
I would still recommend a Mac, as it can run Windows too, which eliminates any compatibility problems.Music: iTunesPhotos and Movies(playing and editing): iPhoto, DVD Player, iMovieWord Processing can be taken care of with; Micorsoft Works (Mac or Windows), iWork (includes Keynote, presentation application that has been supported by many people and touted by many to be better than Powerpoint, and Pages, a very good graphics word processor), or bundled word processor in the OS.A MacBook (ranging from $ 1100-$ 1600 mainstream) is a (in my opinion) very good laptop for your needs. It has a more than capable speed, good capacity hard drive, etc. However, in order to run Windows, you must buy a separate copy of it (available at Best Buy) and download Boot Camp from Apple’s Website.Do you have a budget for a laptop? That could be (*sarcasm*) helpful to prescribe a laptop. Hope that helped.P.S. If you don’t get a Mac, do yourself a favor and don’t get a laptop under $ 600. Their lifespan is very short and you’ll find yourself looking for a new machine in less than five years.

Look for notebooks in the 700-1100 range.Remember that the creator of the sims is known for their limitless number of expansions, so you’d better aim for the high end, since any expansion will require additional resources.

Question by kris84tine: What notebook would be capable of playing the sims 2 and 3 when that come out?
My laptop just broke and I noticed notebooks are a lot cheaper wanted to find out if there was a notebook capable of playing the sims games on as I know they are identical big platform games and not all systems are big enough. Any assisted appreciated.

    Answer by wollybutt
It’s really about the graphics. Most laptops and Notebooks only have integrated graphics, not a ‘proper’ dedicated card. If you are looking at a Notebook that has Vista you need one of the following cards:ATI Radeon 9800 and above. (9800, X550, X600, X700, X800, X850, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950) NVidia 6000 series and above. (6600, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950, 8800)OK cards: These are early DirectX 9 cards and budget cards that may not support all The Sims 2 graphical features. ATI Radeon 9600, 9700, X300, X1300 NVidia 6200, 7100 This modthesims2 link tells you in more detail what cards are recommended for each expansion: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements/MTS2_RecommendationsDedicated parts drive up the cost of the Notebook, so if you find one that has a dedicated teased it probably won’t be cheap.

Question by Olive Music: What is a great Notebook for media and creating music and art?
I am an art and music student. I need a Notebook, lightweight and under $ 500. I will buy any brand that works and that won’t crap out on me. I would also care to know the names of programs less then $ 100 that I can buy to help enter, and edit my original music. It is kind of a double question. Links too please!

Question by Mcloving: Will notebook coolers help lengthen a laptops life span and what other methods will help?
Im planning to get a laptop and hope it lasts at least four years, i will use it a lot will notebook coolers help it to last longer so it doesnt break?1) I know cleaning the fans and carrying it around less helps too 2) does notebook coolers help or do they just make your computer run smoother since at higher temperatures it slows down.3) Any other methods to help a laptop last longer?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Marc W
notebook coolers reduce the temperature of the laptops components so, they will last long.make sure that you choose a popular computer so that you can buy replacement parts for your laptop: I have an old IBM T41 ThinkPad which is similar 4 years old but, it has an user manual which tells you how to remove and replace all the different parts which you can get cheap online. I’ve so far upgraded the processor, the RAM and the harddisk.
